Winterline Foundation has committed to making a grant to help the choir of Woodstock School, a unique educational institution in the Indian Himalayas with a transnational student body and outlook, take part in the National Festival Chorus in New York City in April 2015.
Twenty-one students from grades 9-12 have been learning music and getting ready to join singers from around the U.S. for this performance in Lincoln Center, and to present programs in several other East Coast cities.
Woodstock School has long provided examples of what Winterline calls "education for global citizenship." And now, on the basis of an audition video, and for the first time in its 160-year history an elite group of singers from Woodstock have the opportunity to be a part of this prestigious choral festival.
Winterline has established The Woodstock Choir Tour Fund, from which its grant to assist with expenses will be made. Contributions to this Fund are welcomed, are legally restricted to that use, and are tax deductible.
Imagine the ripples the tour will create! To perform transcendent choral literature with other talented students in a world-class venue directed by a renowned conductor will be a life changing event for the Woodstock students. But Winterline anticipates that members of the other choirs taking part will have their own worldviews challenged and stretched—by seeing what students of their own age from many countries, but studying together in India, are doing, thinking and producing.
We hope you will consider a donation to help us make this dream come true.
